Alghero Airport – Commercial Airside Redevelopment
• This project, carried out in two phases, focused on enhancing the commercial layout of the post-security airside departure lounge at Alghero Airport. From initial inspirations to scenario testing and selection, the process culminated in a strategic interior design vision for the Commercial Airside, set for implementation in 2026.

Phase 1: Passenger Traffic Growth & Commercial Enhancement:
• With passenger traffic steadily increasing, Alghero Airport faced a growing demand for an enhanced departure experience. This phase prioritized optimizing commercial offerings within the departure area, balancing minimal structural changes with maximum exposure to retail and food & beverage (F&B) services.

The relocation of the baggage reclaim area created valuable additional space, enabling:
• An improved and expanded F&B offering.
• A larger, more accessible walk-through duty-free area.
• The introduction of new specialist retail units.
• A significantly enhanced overall passenger experience.

Phase 2: Interior Design Strategy Building on the spatial planning, this phase developed a comprehensive interior design strategy, structured around a Zonal Diagram that defined four key areas:
• Belonging Reclaim after Security / Orientation Zone – Enhanced passenger flow and experience immediately post-security.
• Walk-Through Duty-Free – Optimized layout and accessibility to maximize retail engagement.
• Retail Area – Expanded specialist retail options to cater to diverse passenger needs.
• Boarding Area – While outside the consultant's scope, this area was integrated into the overall airside concourse experience.
• These zones were spatially interconnected and thoughtfully designed, incorporating locally inspired materials, colors, patterns, and lighting to create a seamless passenger journey while enhancing commercial viability.
